New York Music Month Set For June
NEW YORK CITY (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers for New York Music month announced that the event is returning for a third year in 2019.
Set for June, the expanded event includes a music and technology-focused music conference, a series of free concerts in the Bronx and Queens, workshops aimed at the LBGTQ+ community, walking tours of musically significant locations in the city and more.
NYMM is organized by New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) Commissioner Anne del Castillo, and event co-founder and Downtown Music Publishing boss Justin Kalifowitz.
Speakers lined up for the 2019 event include Linda Bloss-Baum, Senior Director for Artist and Industry Relations at SoundExchange; virtual reality director and theorist Jessica Brillhart; acting Commissioner Anne del Castillo; Amy Chen, Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at NYC Media Lab; Waleed Diab, Director of Record Label Business Development for North America at YouTube; Universal Music Group’s Director of Digital Strategy Jonathan Dworkin; and Shira Gans, Senior Executive Director of Policy and Programs at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
Concerts will take place at venues around the city, including Terminal 5, where Bikini Kill are slated to perform; The Happy Fits, who are lined up for Rough Trade NYC; and Lane 8, who will perform at the Brooklyn Mirage.
